Our Top 10 movies for the week

Fridays are my favorites because i can finally say goodbye to the stress of the week and kick off my shores while losing myself in the warm embrace of the weekend. It has been a hectic week but thank God we pulled through.

So... we are counting down the top 10 movies of the week..i decided to mix things by also included old movies along with recent movies..i really hope you like it..

10.. Jigsaw
After a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own?

This movie actually got me glued to my seat from the beginning till the end credits and I didn't even know. the movie has a lot of twists and turns but trust me.. you will love it.. if you haven't watched it then I suggest you do..

9.. Girls Trip
Four best friends, known as the Flossy Posse, have grown apart over the years. Yet when one of the friends is offered an opportunity to be a keynote speaker at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, she decides to bring along her friends to turn her work vacation into a girl's trip. Along the way, they rekindle their wild side by dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to excess.

The movie stars :  Regina Hall; Tiffany Haddish; Larenz Tate; Mike Colter; Kate Walsh; Jada Pinkett Smith; Queen Latifah

I don't know why this movie is number 9 but trust me when I say that this movie helped me unlock a part of me I didn't even know I had in me. My favorite character is definitely Dina. Her spirit is so addictive.. I'll not spoil it for you. just check it out.

8.. Mr Vampire

Mr. Vampire (Chinese: 殭屍先生) is a 1985 Hong Kong comedy horror film directed by Ricky Lau and produced by Sammo Hung. The film's box office success led to the creation of a Mr. Vampire franchise, with the release of four sequels directed by Ricky Lau from 1986 to 1992, and subsequent similarly themed films with different directors released between 1987 and 1992, with Lam Ching-ying as the lead for the majority of them. The vampire of the film is based on the jiangshi, the hopping corpses of Chinese folklore (similar to both zombies and vampires). The film was released under the Chinese title 暫時停止呼吸 (literally: Hold Your Breath for a Moment) in Taiwan.

This movie brought tears to my eyes..tears of laughter and joy..like I can not even begin to tell how hilarious it is. I recommend you go watch it.

7.. Halloween
On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith's Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.

Now I don't know if you love horror as much as I do but I know one thing..Hallowen is a more than a movie..It is a pure vibe (lol).. anyway don't just take it from me..why not watch it and verify what I am saying.

6.. American Skin

This movie follows a Marine veteran who works as a school janitor that takes matters into his own hands after his son is killed by a police officer.

This movie taught me a lot and it brought visible tears to my eyes. I don't live in the states but I felt the heavy impact of racism. I can not even fully tell you how inspiring and heart breaking the movie is. I don't know if you can download it anywhere apart from youtube.

5..no man of God
Sentenced to death by electrocution, serial killer Ted Bundy develops a strange and complicated relationship with FBI agent Bill Hagmaier while detailing his heinous crimes.

Now if you know me,you will know that I have this very healthy obsession with Ted Bundy and his life so this movie is just perfect for me. it doesn't capture every thing but the little it does is worth watching. it just shows how much of a manipulator Ted was even when he was close to death. I recommend you watch this if you love reading about weird things like American serial killers.. This movie actually inspired me to write a poem.

4.. rush hour

When a Chinese diplomat's daughter is kidnapped in Los Angeles, he calls in Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) to assist the FBI with the case. But the FBI doesn't want anything to do with Lee, and they dump him off on the LAPD, who assign wisecracking Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) to watch over him. Although Lee and Carter can't stand each other, they choose to work together to solve the case on their own when they figure out they've been ditched by both the FBI and police.

This movie needs no long story..its a classic and it needs to be watched over and over again.

3.. Hacksaw ridge.
The true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. Doss was drafted and ostracized by fellow soldiers for his pacifist stance but went on to earn respect and adoration for his bravery, selflessness and compassion after he risked his life -- without firing a shot -- to save 75 men in the Battle of Okinawa.

The fact that this movie is based on a true story still blows my mind and the lesson to be learnt from it is just amazing. If there are 10 movies you should watch this year, this should be among them.

2.. Don't look up.

Two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.

now this is a 2021movie and I don't want to spoil it for anyone.  All I will tell you is go and watch it.. you will thank me later.

1.. Harriet
From her escape from slavery through the dangerous missions she led to liberate hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad, the story of heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman is told.

The synopsis said it all.. its a movie worth watching.
