The issue between Israel and Palestine
Did you know that the war between Israel and Palestine didn’t start today or 3 or 5 years ago? Oh no... it’s goes way beyond that. The issue is even older than our country and it just blows my mind. It actually began following the end of the BRITISH Mandate for Palestine at the midnight of May 14 1948...can you believe it??? 1948!!!! That’s 73years of issue and misunderstanding... it’s completely insane. Before I wrote this I had to make the necessary homework so that I don’t lead anyone astray and I’m very happy I did. Let’s learn more shall we
The Israeli Declaration of Independencehad been issued earlier that day, (14 May) and a military coalition of Arab statesentered the territory of British Palestinein the morning of 15 May. There had been tension and conflict between the Arabs and the Jews, and between each of them and the British forces since the 1917 Balfour Declarationand the 1920 creation of the British Mandate of Palestine. British policies dissatisfied both Arabs and Jews. Arab opposition developed into the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine, while the Jewish resistance developed into the 1944–1947 Jewish insurgency in Palestine. In 1947, these ongoing tensions erupted into civil warfollowing the 29 November 1947 adoption of the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine, which planned to divide Palestine into an Arab state, a Jewish state, and the Special International Regime encompassing the cities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. On 15 May 1948, the civil war transformed into a conflict between Israel and the Arab states following the Israeli Declaration of Independencethe previous day. Egypt, Transjordan, Syria, and expeditionary forces from Iraq entered Palestine.[15] The invading forces took control of the Arab areas and immediately attacked Israeli forces and several Jewish settlements. On 29 November 1947, the United Nations General Assemblyadopted a resolution recommending the adoption and implementation of a plan to partition the British Mandate of Palestine into two states, one Arab and one Jewish, and the City of Jerusalem.[25]
The General Assembly resolution on Partitionwas greeted with overwhelming joy in Jewish communities and widespread outrage in the Arab world. In Palestine, violence erupted almost immediately, feeding into a spiral of reprisals and counter-reprisals. The British refrained from intervening as tensions boiled over into a low-level conflict that quickly escalated into a full scale civil war.
If I should continue, you’d actually get tired of reading because it’s just soo much. Sincerely speaking I feel bad that this is happening to both countries and I was even considering picking a side but after reading more about the issue,I chose to just remain quiet and hope for the best. What’s your take on the current situation? Please let us know.
P.s I don’t claim rights on the facts made above.
See you next week.
