Hour of Opportunity
A wise youth makes hay while the sun shines, but what a
shame to see a lad who sleeps away his hour of opportunity. Prov. 10:5
To change the world one needs to be focused. You need to
get an idea and stay with that idea. Truth is, it may not work out immediately,
be patient, hold on to that vision it will surely manifest. Stop! Jumping from one
place to another; if you do not have vision even America would be of no help to
you. Stop! Changing vision lanes, stay where you are. Leave frivolities,
forsake mundane things and hold on to that one thing that defines you, it will surely
flourish.
Youths know this, before the age of twenty; be a good
student, listen a lot, learn new skills (soft skill, artisan skill and professional
skills), be open to gaining new experience.
Before 30 years; start applying your knowledge, inquire to
learn more advanced skills, follow someone, make a lot of mistakes and get back
up again, work in a small company to catch the passion and dreams, learn how to
do a lot of things at once, improve on your technical know-how. At this age it
is important to follow someone (Mentor or Boss).
Now from 30 to 40 years; think clearly, know you are
working for yourself and prepare yourself for entrepreneurship.
Between 40 – 50 years, focus only on the things you are
good at, build on it, expand them and re-invent them. Do not jump into a new
area it’s too late, the rate of failure is 80%.
Between 50 – 60 years, work for the young people, because
young people can do better than you. Rely on them, invest in them, and make
sure they become better than good.
When you are over 60 years old spend time for yourself.
I have always advocated against graduate self-employment. How
can I just graduate from school and start a business, when I have not been
invested upon, that’s what they call, “NON-TESTED” it’s too risky, and the rate
of survival is 15%. Who would patronize me? No wonder people still prefer made
in abroad products, because they have been TESTED and TRUSTED.
My fellow youths, Make hay while the sun shines. Pick up a
vision, hold on to it, learn it, listen to those who are in it, make mistakes from
it, follow someone that knows it, improve your skill towards it, think clearly
about it and begin to apply what you know, increase your technical knowledge
and technical application. Seize your opportunity! If the government would not
invest in you, develop yourself! If you have no one above 50 willing to invest
in you, invest in yourself! No more excuses.
Though it may tarry, it will surely come to pass.
Remember we have just 24 hours.
