Many Advantages

"To be wise is as good as being rich; in fact, it is better. You can get anything by either wisdom or money, but being wise has many advantages" Ecc. 7:11-12.

Our society has been made to believe that riches, that is money is the ultimate. The search for wisdom has been truncated and termed futile. No wonder Kogi state, even with its 29 mineral resources deposit available in commercial quantities, still manage to be so under developed.

Each of the 21 LGAs has at least 2 mineral deposits. Kogi  holds reserves of at least 99 million tonnes of coal, enough to supply all of Nigeria power for 400 years. The limestone in Kogi can accommodate 3 giant-sized cement factories (with over 15 million tonnes annual capacity) operational for an unbroken stretch of 99 years. That is one state out of 36 states! But yet we choose to chase oil money.

We have neglected the many advantages we would accumulate if we pursue after wisdom. Our policy making processes have been greatly influenced with the desire to make money rather than the desire for sustainable development.

We go after polices, programs, projects and activities with lesser advantages all because we regard money more than wisdom.
